Winn-Dixie (the book)
We have been reading the book Because of Winn-Dixie by Kate DiCamillo together as a class. I would like to plan a celebration for  March 11th like the one that Opal organizes in the book. Please sign up to send in an item for our celebration at the following link:

Black History Celebration
We celebrated Black History Month as a school last Thursday. There was dancing, singing and even a short play on the grassy area behind our school. The students enjoyed the ceremony and sang and danced themselves despite the cold weather.

Compass Learning
Compass Learning is an important resource that focuses on areas of concern for each student individually.  This website uses test result data to tailor practice to individual student needs. If your child does not know their username please email me, so I can get it to you. I have added the Compass Learning link to this page. It is to the right of this post under the the Important Links tab.

Winn-Dixie
Our class pet, Winn-Dixie, has been experiencing metamorphosis. He came to us as a tadpole and we have watched him transform into a froglet, soon to be a frog. Students come into the classroom excited to see Winn-Dixie's changes every morning! He will be moving into the fish bowl this week and we will continue to observe our pet in his new habitat.

Winn-Dixie (the book)
We have been reading the book Because of Winn-Dixie by Kate DiCamillo together as a class. I would like to plan a celebration for  March 11th like the one that Opal organizes in the book. I will be sending out a Sign-Up Genius request for donations to our party soon. Please be on the lookout!

The Week of February 15th

Weekly Newsletter

Valentine Exchange
Students did a wonderful job making and decorating their 3D figures! There were many creative and impressive designs to behold. They also enjoyed delivering Valentines to all of their friends. Congratulations on a job well done!

The students of Room 21 also enjoyed eating a representation of layered soil on Friday afternoon! They used ingredients to represent the layers of bedrock, subsoil, topsoil and even had some humus to make their soil nutrient rich! Please ask your student if they can remember the different layers of soil and their attributes.
