Valentine Project

Due Friday February 12th
We will be exchanging Valentines on February 12th. Each student is to design and build a structure or a container using geometrical shapes. We will be looking for the following criteria for each student’s project:
1. Design a geometrical structure or container that has an opening that mail/cards could slide into. The opening should be at least 5” x 2”
2. At least 2 two-dimensional/flat shapes are used to build the structures. (square, circle, triangle, heart, etc.)
3. At least 1 three-dimensional shape is used to build the structure. (cube, cylinder, etc.)
**The shapes could be decorations on the container or the container itself.
4. The box should be no larger than 12" in width, depth or height.
5. The container should be easy to carry
6. You must have fun completing this activity!

The structures will be used for collecting Valentine cards from classmates. Bring your box in along with 25 Valentines; one for each participating student.

**If you do not celebrate Valentine’s Day, you may create a box for other keepsakes.

Last Week of Tutorial
Tutorial will end this week due to budget constraints. The final day of after school tutorial will be Thursday, February 4th.

Field Trip Deficit
I will send home the following letter concerning field trips on Tuesday, January 5th:

January 5, 2016

Hello Families,

We are requesting $5 from each child/family to cover the additional field trip costs for the school year. When field trips were planned for this school year, at the end of last year, we used the cost sheets from the bus company that our school district used in the past. Our district now uses a new company that charges more for each bus. Due to these circumstances, we are above budget, and are requesting that each family submit $5 for the remaining field trips to Oatland Island and the rescheduled Massie field trip.

We would like for all monies to be in by Friday January 15, 2016, so we can move forward.

We thank you in advance for your understanding.

The Lower Elementary Teachers- Ms. Debbie, Ms. Patricia, Ms. Susan,
Ms. Beth, Ms. Allie, Ms. Marianne, and Ms. Jazmin
