Musical Explorers Training
We will have a substitute this Friday morning so I can attend Musical Explorers Training. Musical Explorers is a year-round program where the Savannah Music Festival partners with Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute. This program builds basic music skills in the classroom as children learn songs from different cultures, reflect on their own communities, and develop listening and singing skills. During the 2016-17 season, students explore various music styles including American Brass Quintet Music, Old-Time Music, Zydeco, Music of India, German Art Song, and Cuban Salsa Music, embarking on a musical journey through the cultures found in and around the Southeastern United States. Students interact with the professional musicians featured in the program during culminating concerts each semester.  Take a look at the Musical Explorers poster which features our very own Nahiem!

SMOOTHIES!
When I return to school Friday afternoon I'd like to have students use the new blender that we received through Donors Choose to make healthy smoothies. I'd like to have students bring in the ingredients on Wednesday and Thursday so that we will have them prepared to use on Friday. Here is the link to SignUPGenius. Please donate if you are able.

The Week of September 4th

Weekly Newsletter

WOW! Last week was a whirlwind of excitement at Charles Ellis! We received news on Thursday that there would be no school on Friday due to severe weather. This weather event ties in perfectly with the cloud research that is happening in Room 21. I hope everyone got to spend some time outside after the storm passed to further investigate the clouds. This week we will have a guest in Room 21 on Tuesday to help us learn more about the Suns's energy and the different ways in which it affects the Earth and it's inhabitants.

We will also be receiving materials from another Donors Choose project that was funded over the weekend! I am so excited about this one because these materials will allow us to begin cooking in the classroom! Be on the lookout for a sign up genius email so that families can send in nutritious ingredients for smoothies and baking.

Also, after Donors Choose receives our Thank You package, we will have earned enough points to create a project that allows us to use an outside vendor. I intend to create a project to help our classroom get much needed materials from Waseca, a company that specializes in beautiful Montessori materials. I hope to get a match offer for the project so I will wait to send out an email to families after we have a match. This way every donation will be matched by a corporation and we will fund the project twice as fast! Thank you for your help funding this project, I will let you know when to donate.

Ellis Supplies on Wheels

Charles Ellis Montessori Academy Erdkinder students in the CTAE (Career Technical Agricultural Education) program are staffing Ellis Supplies on Wheels cart. They will be coming by our classroom at a designated time and selling the items listed.
