The Week of January 4th
Weekly Newsletter
Welcome Back!
Students return to school Tuesday, January 5th. I hope you all enjoyed the Winter Break! I am excited to hear about all of your adventures!

Parent Education
Dr. Channil will be hosting a Parent Education meeting regarding GMAS Scores. This meeting is geared towards parents who have already received their student's GMAS Scores. Our 3rd grade students will be taking the GMAS in April, so if you are interested to see how the tests will be scored, please feel free to attend the meeting.

Compass Learning
2nd and 3rd grade students should be using the Compass Learning website at home if they have access to the internet. This website uses Common Core strategies to help students practice the material they are learning at school. Usernames and passwords were sent home with 2nd and 3rd graders. If you did not receive them please send me an email so I can get them to you. I have added the Compass Learning link to this page. It is to the right of this post under the the Important Links tab.

Field Trip Deficit
I will send home the following letter concerning field trips on Tuesday, January 5th:

January 5, 2016

Hello Families,

We are requesting $5 from each child/family to cover the additional field trip costs for the school year. When field trips were planned for this school year, at the end of last year, we used the cost sheets from the bus company that our school district used in the past. Our district now uses a new company that charges more for each bus. Due to these circumstances, we are above budget, and are requesting that each family submit $5 for the remaining field trips to Oatland Island and the rescheduled Massie field trip.

We would like for all monies to be in by Friday January 15, 2016, so we can move forward.

We thank you in advance for your understanding.

The Lower Elementary Teachers- Ms. Debbie, Ms. Patricia, Ms. Susan,
Ms. Beth, Ms. Allie, Ms. Marianne, and Ms. Jazmin
