The Week of January 8th

Weekly Newsletter

Welcome back to Room 21!

I hope you all enjoyed the break. I certainly did, but it was nice to see the student's smiling faces this past week at school! I enjoyed reading about what the students did over the break and what their goals are for 2017. The children also made wild predictions for the new year and, if they come true, this is going to be a year to remember!

Students took a math pre-assessment on Friday to see what lessons they need to have in the upcoming weeks. I have reviewed the tests and will use them to inform my instruction as we progress through the third marking period.

Thank you for the wonderful gifts! It warms my heart to know how caring our families are. The new curtains were put up on Friday and they do the job nicely. We have begun reading The BFG by Roald Dahl and students used their imaginations and details from the book to draw some fantastic pictures of the giant.

On Friday, the school had a pep rally to introduce the Jump Rope for Heart initiative. Paperwork was sent home for this fundraiser last week. If your student would like to participate in Jump Rope for Heart, the paperwork needs to be filled out and returned to school.

Third Grade Students-  Ms. Gina sent home permission slips for third graders so that they can access the computers during Spanish class. The third graders will be tested on their Spanish skills at the end of the year and the work that they will do on the computer is supposed to help them better learn the material. If you haven't already, please sign and return the permission slip as soon as possible.

Conferences- We will begin conferences for 2nd and 3rd grades this week. The midyear testing window has not yet opened for 1st grade students. We will begin those conferences the week of the 23rd after the 1st grade students have been tested using DIBELS.
*2nd and 3rd grades* Please sign up for a conference by using the link below.
