The Week of August 7th

Weekly Newsletter

Welcome to the first FULL week of school!  I am so happy to be getting back in to the swing of things! Last week our Grace and Courtesy focus was Kindness. We had several lessons and discussions about treating each other with kindness. After reading the biography of Maria Montessori, the students also began working on a timeline of their lives. This week, students will have lessons in Math, Science, Reading, Writing and Social Studies. Students will have blank work plans that they will fill in as they have lessons and complete work.

Communication Folders- If you would like to purchase a communication folder and put it in your child's bag please do. I do not fill folders for students, but I do hand out papers and students are responsible for putting them in their book bags and taking them home to you. If I have sent something home for parents to sign and return, I will ask your student for it the following day. If you have communication for me, your student will need to make sure that I get it, because I don't check folders. The best way to communicate with is me email. My email address is marianne.howze@sccpss.com.

Field Trip Forms- Thank you to the families that have already returned the field trip forms for the year. Several field trip packets were sent back to school without funds. We are collecting $10 for each student to cover the cost of all of our field trips for the year. If you did not send in $10 with your field trip packet, please send it in to school in a sealed envelope with your student. If it would be a financial burden for your family to send in $10 at this time, just email me and we discuss other options for your family.

Snack Sign Up- I did my best to make sure that each family had at least one of their first choices. If the snack sign up was not returned to me by your student, I randomly filled in a date with his/her name. The food allergy questionnaires that were sent home indicate that we do have an allergy to cow's milk in the classroom, so please be mindful of that. Although, I do have extra snacks on hand in case something is sent in that contains milk.

Charles Ellis Family Handbook- Below you will find the Charles Ellis Family Handbook. This handbook will help you to become more familiar with our school and the Montessori Method that we use to guide our instruction.
