The Week of November 14th

Weekly Newsletter

Field Trips
Our students had an amazing time on their respective field trips to Downtown Savannah. First grade students learned about Thomas Jefferson and the local Georgians who signed the Declaration of Independence. I had the pleasure of escorting our third grade students on an architectual adventure! They were completely engaged and found several different types of architectural details on historical buildings that were inspired by Ancient Greek Architecture. They also used their bodies to demonstrate the features of some of the architecture!

Second grade students saw the riverfront where James Oglethorpe first landed and visited monuments dedicated to Tomichichi and Oglethorpe on their trip to Downtown Savannah.

PTA READ-A-THON
Information regarding the read-a-thon was sent home with students on Friday. Please consider having your student participate in this schoolwide event. It promotes literacy and helps to encourage nightly reading. Classes that have 100% participation (even if every student raises just $2) will be awarded a gift certificate for our book fair in December. Students that raise over $100 will recieve an idividual gift certificate to the book fair.

Harvest Feast
Room 21 will be celebrating the Season with a Harvest Feast on November 22, 2016. The students take such pride in and enjoy eating food that was prepared be them and their classmates. Please go to the following Signup Genius link to volunteer and send in an item for our Harvest Feast. Most items should be sent in on Monday, November 21, so that students will have time to prepare the meal. Please send in desserts on Tuesday, November 22, because we have limited space in the classroom to store food items. Thank you.
